Dems Take Action Against Kushner, Prepare An ‘In-Depth Investigation’

Jared Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser, was given a security clearance a year-and-a-half after getting the job, causing Democrats to wonder what took so long.

It was reported on Wednesday that “The Committee on Oversight and Reform is launching an in-depth investigation of the security clearance process at the White House and Transition Team in response to grave breaches of national security at the highest levels of the Trump Administration,” Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), the Chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, said in a letter to the White House obtained by NBC News.

What was shocking was the fact that Kushner gained security clearance last year despite the fact that he had “omitted” hundreds of contacts with foreign officials during his initial application forms.

Kushner had initially claimed in his SF-86 form that he had zero contacts with foreign officials. That was later debunked and he amended his form to reflect more than 100 contacts.
